B-Boy Park Tokyo 2010

This weekend, the annual B-Boy Park festival was held at Yoyogi Park in the Shibuya area of Tokyo. B-Boy Park started back in 1997 as a way to bring together Tokyo’s B-Boys and B-Girls for a celebration of music, breakdancing, DJs, graffiti, skating, MCing, fashion, and everything else related to the Japanese B-Boy scene.

Breakdancing at B-Boy Park Tokyo

B-Boy Park 2010 took place on both Saturday and Sunday, with breakdancing competitions both days, MC battles, live street art demonstrations, and lots more. On the main stage, several well-known acts performed – including one of Japan’s longest running hip hop acts, Rhymester. In addition to the onstage events, there were also booths from several Japanese indie hip hop music labels and fashion brands – and, of course, lots of food and beer for everyone.

The fashion of the crowd at the event leaned toward hip hop / street style – as you would expect – but there were guys and girls of all different ages and styles out for what was billed as “Tokyo’s Biggest Block Party”. We brought back pictures of the fashion and events for you (along with a couple of breakdancing videos at the bottom of this post). However, the best way to experience B-Boy Park is to get out there yourself and enjoy the positive vibe. Don’t miss it next year!
