Here’s an 18-year-old student named Saya who’s a fan of the natural look. Her auburn hair is worn in a long braid and tied with a pink ribbon. She’s wearing a sleeveless cotton top from a resale store over a long denim skirt from Kinji resale. Her flat Mary Jane shoes are also from a resale shop.

Saya’s leather cross body bag is from Lancel and was a gift from her mother. Her necklace with small roses is handmade.

Saya’s favorite type of shopping is resale and her favorite resale shop is Santa Monica.

This cute Japanese girls with a blonde bob is Hazuki, a 22-year-old beautician. She’s wearing a gray top with black topstitching and black lace ruffles over a short ruffled chiffon skirt. Her black leggings are the perfect complement to her slouchy open toe boots. A skull printed on the legging adds an edgy touch.

Her quilted purse features a Mickey Mouse logs. It’s from LDS (the Love Drug Store brand).

This flirty girl is a 22-year-old furita and model named Hami. She’s embraced the retro 1970s style for summer with a blue and white print resale top and a matching overall dress that features cute eyelet ruffles at the hem. The dress is from Min Plume and she bought it at one of the stores at Shibuya 109, which is her favorite place to shop.

She’s accessorized her outfit with a suede belt embellished with fur and high heel lace-up shoes from Esperanza. Her fringed suede bag is from ANAP. She’s also wearing jewelry from Shibuya 109 that includes a chunky gemstone bracelet and a wide white bangle bracelet on one wrist and three strands of beads on the other wrist.

Her hair is styled in curly pigtails and her handcrafted headband is pure retro hippie. She says her favorite band is Juncle Mic (from Kyoto).

This cute 18-year-old girl is Toyoda. She’s wearing a long gauze dress from Isbit that features variegated color and a lacy top. She’s carrying a straw basket hand bag (a popular look in Tokyo this summer) from Honey Salon.

Toyoda’s accessories include a chocolate covered strawberry necklace and a colorful scarf in her hair. Her white high top sneakers add a casual touch to an ultra-feminine outfit.

Her said her favorite shops are Penny Rain and Nadia (aka NADIA FLORES EN EL CORAZON). She likes the music of Sasurai Maker.

Pleated Skirt + Long Sweater = Cute Schoolgirl Style

Yui is a 22-year-old manager. Her stylish outfit is an updated take on the schoolgirl uniform, including a short yellow pleated skirt and a long blue and white striped sweater with red trim. Under the sweater is a ruffle-front blouse with a round collar and blue ribbon tie.

Yui bought her interesting-looking black bag at an overseas shop. Her retro shoes are from Esperanza and she’s wearing them with textured opaque stockings. Her accessories include a handmade brooch pinned to the front of her sweater.

Yui likes the hat shop chain CA4LA (pronounced “Ca-shi-la”) and the music of the Japanese indie group The Band Apart. She also likes musician Marilyn Manson.

Grimoire Corset & Black Mesh Stockings

This is Noguchi, another fan of the popular Grimoire resale shop that’s so well known for its Dolly style. She’s wearing a red corset over a short white dress – both items are from Grimoire. Her black mesh stocking and booties add a sophisticated touch and coordinate with her black umbrella.

Noguchi is wearing some interesting accessories around her neck, including a magnifying glass from Grimoire and a large tassel. Her whimsical tapestry bag features cute puppies and her watch features artwork from the anime HeartCatch PreCure!

Noguchi told us her favorite places to shop are Grimoire and The Virgin Mary vintage store. Her favorite types of music are electro and anison (anime songs).

This stylish Japanese guy with a red derby hat is Otokonari, a 22-yar-old Japanese student. He’s wearing a white t-shirt from Material Boy and black skinny jeans from Loveless. His minimal black sneakers are from Converse.

Over Otokonari’s shoulder is a Jeremy bag with super realistic image of Jeremy Scott. His accessories include a wristband with some fierce-looking silver spikes.

Otokonari told us that his favorite shop is Opening Ceremony and his favorite type of music is electro.

Here’s an 18-year-old student with bobbed hair that we met in Harajuku. Sakata is wearing a white ruffled blouse under a fitted gray vest embellished with gold braid and buttons from the Hanjiro resale store. Her brightly colored skirt with a handkerchief hem is from Kinji. It looks like it’s made from large scarves.

Sakata’s multi-colored Adidas shoes coordinate perfectly with her skirt. Over her shoulder she’s carrying a bag from Bunka Fashion College.

Christopher Nemeth

Christopher Nemeth is a British fashion designer who is based in Tokyo. His brand Nemeth has a dedicated following among young Japanese men in Harajuku. The designer is known for his eye catching clothing designs featuring bold patterns and colors. Christopher Nemeth collections often include cropped suits and drop crotch pants (along with pants, shirts, shorts, suits, jackets, bags, and other accessories), sometimes in plaid colorways. One of his trademarks is elaborate decorative stitching. Nemeth has a flagship shop in the Harajuku/Omotesando area of Tokyo, and his clothes are sold in a few exclusive select shops around Japan as well.

Christopher Luis Nemeth was born in Birmingham, England in 1959. After graduating from Camberwell School of Arts, he began making clothes of his own. He met photographer Mark Lebon in a pub and was introduced to Judy Blame. He eventually began to attract the attention of magazines like i-D and The Face. Together with Lebon, stylist Blame (who has worked with Bjork, Boy George, Neneh Cherry, Massive Attack, and others) and shoe designer John Muir, they opened the House of Beauty & Culture, located near northeast Kings Road in the UK.

The first House of Beauty & Culture collection was showcased in London in 1985. In 1993, Nemeth moved his work to Tokyo and began selling his collection through the shop Sector. In November, he released his new collection “Violence Material.” December of that year saw the opening of his own Christopher Nemeth store in Harajuku. In December 1994, his “Hard Work” collection was showcased in Tokyo’s Ebisu district. He has since continued to produce unique clothing in Tokyo, where he has a deeply rooted fan base.

In addition to designing clothes, Christopher Nemeth is also a painter.
