Smiley Harajuku Girls w/ Bon Bijou “HAPPY” Hair Clip & Platform Converse

Here are two fun and cutely dressed Japanese girls we ran into on the street in Harajuku. [One of our readers pointed out that the girl on the right is the Japanese fashion blogger Ainyan!]

When we shoot snaps, it takes a bit of time to photograph the people we meet, and then more time for them to fill out paperwork letting us know what brands they are wearing, etc. These two girls were on their way to an engagement, so they didn’t have time to stop for more than a couple of minutes. It’s not uncommon for us to approach someone, only to find out that they are in a hurry and simply don’t have time to stop for long enough to do pictures and paperwork. In those cases, we just hope we’ll bump into them again when they have more time.

These girls didn’t have time to share brand info about their outfits, but we can see that the girl on the right (Ainyan) is wearing a WC “Baby Boy” knit sweater, platform Converse, and a “Happy” hair clip which looks like one of the Bon Bijou hair clips which we’ve been seeing quite a lot of lately in Harajuku. There are also multiple colorful scarves, big glasses, and a tulle skirt – all elements that we might expect to see worn by fans of the Japanese brand WC by Chinatsu Wakatsuki.

Update: The shoes that Ainyan is wearing appear to be WC studded platform high tops. They are similar to the platform Converse that we often see from Nadia Harajuku, but not the same shoes. Thank you to the person who noticed the difference & let us know.

  1. They look so beautiful! I love them both so much, the hairdo, the clothes….LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  2. The girl on the right is well known blogger Ainyan!<3 I'm fairly sure she's WC staff… but I may be wrong haha
She's often seen sporting multiple WC items though, she has such a great sense of style

Wow, nice call nicuron! I checked her blog and it definitely is Ainyan! They were in such a hurry, we didn’t get much info. Thanks for letting us (and everyone else) know who she is! She was really sweet and friendly even though she had to run! :-)

actually the big frame glasses I had seen initially on lot of Korean people. But lately a lot of japanese girls wearing them too. they’re cool.

@snailrider – The big glasses are a huge battleground for fashion industry people. Some people say the trend started in Japan and went to the rest of Asia, some say they started in Korea, some say China. I think we’ll never know for sure, and everyone will just pick sides. :-) If you are interested in more discussion about it in English, there is a pretty detailed article here: http://neojaponisme.com/2011/07/19/on-fake-glasses-in-japan/

  6. girl with glasses really looks korean to me. I am a big fan of k-pop and I was analyzing asian people for quite a long time and so I can say that this girl sports korean features. Just wanted to share ^_^

  7. While living in Japan (Almost 7 Years) – I loved to go to Harajuku every Sunday dressing up in my American Hippie clothes (Hey, you can be anyone you want there) – Great Memories, I miss it.
    Peace
