Harajuku Girls in Summer Kimono, Furry Sandals & Cute Accessories

We met Mei and Momoko – both wearing Japanese summer kimono with modern accessories – on the street in Harajuku.

Mei – a 20 year old student, on the left – is wearing a black and red yukata from the Harajuku resale shop Chicago with furry platform sandals from Spinns Harajuku. Accessories – which are handmade and from flea markets – include round sunglasses, black lace gloves, lace socks, a jeweled ring, a traditional fan, and a bright red car handbag from Retro Girl. Mei’s favorite designer is Vivienne Westwood. She likes anime music (anisong) and The MusMus. Find her on Twitter for more pictures and updates.

Momoko – 21 and working in fashion – is wearing a pink and white yukata with furry platform sandals from Merry Jenny. Accessories include pink sunglasses from Claire’s, white lace gloves, and a “Lolita” ruffle bag by the Japanese brand Himitsu by Syrup. Her favorite fashion brand is the Japanese label LilLilly and she likes the music of Hiro Shimano. Find Momoko on Twitter too!
