Harajuku Style Girls w/ Big Hair Bows, Bright Colors & Cute Accessories

Here are a couple of fun Japanese girls in brightly colored summer fashion. Eye-catching as their style is, it wasn’t a hard decision to ask if we could photograph these girls when we spotted them on Omotesando Dori in Harajuku.

On the left is Yuma, a 16-year-old Japanese high school student with a cool hairstyle who we’ve photographed in Harajuku several times. Yuma’s pretty red dress (or skirt-top combo) – with stripes, polka dots, and cartoon baby birds on it – came from the popular Tokyo resale shop Kinji. Her accessories include a ring from 6%DOKIDOKI, a huge hair bow, pink lace stockings, pointy red shoes, a bag with a cat on it, and a flower pinwheel. Yuma told us that her favorite shop 6%DOKIDOKI and her favorite band is Ginnan Boyz.

On the right, with lavender hair and a fairy kei-friendly color palette, is 16-year-old Otoha. She’s wearing a pink Care Bears top with a lavender h.Naoto skirt, striped socks, and purple pumps. Her accessories include a Yum Yums bag, a necklace that looks like plush glasses, a purple hair bow clip, heart earrings, and a 6%DOKIDOKI bracelet. Otoha told us that her favorite fashion brands are Spank and 6%DokiDoki. As far as music, she likes Syrup16g and Midori.

Note: This update is from a series of street snaps that were taken last year for a print magazine. The magazine didn’t need all of the photos, so we are running the remaining snaps here on Tokyo Fashion. Some of the styles may be more 2010 than 2011, but they have never been seen before and we didn’t want them to go unpublished.
