Izreel 2011 S/S Collection

The 11th Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo is happening! Several times each day, TokyoFashion.com’s contributors are reporting back from runway shows all over town. On Wednesday, October 20th, Japanese label Izreel showcased their 2011 Spring/Summer menswear collection on the runway at Tokyo Midtown.

Izreel founder Kazuhiro Takakura was born in the Kanagawa prefecture. After graduating from university as a mathematics major, he threw himself into the international and domestic fashion world. He created the brand Izreel in May of 2003, and had his first show in Copenhagen in 2004. This was followed by two years of European exhibitions, which resulted in a distribution deal with Showroon LAB, getting his line into 13 italian shops. While working on expanding his line in Japan and Europe, Takakura also worked for the Italian down brand DUVETICA from 2005-2009.

Izreel’s concept is Japanese street fashion with luxury takes on the American vintage, using the same European style of high quality fabrics and cuts. The name literally means “is real”, a nod to the “real clothes” aesthetic. This is evident in the line, from the very wearable line of jackets, pants, tops, and accessories.
