Mitsuhiro Ikeda Art Show “Floating Density”

Posted on 24 Jun. 2009

Japanese artist Mitsuhiro Ikeda will open his new solo show “Floating Density” this coming Saturday (June 27th) at ShugoArts in the Kiyosumi art complex in Tokyo. Born in 1978, he is one of the new breed of young Japanese artists that came of age a generation below the current reigning Japanese contemporary art gods Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara.

Ikeda is most well known for his early paintings (2005 era) that featured human-like figures in colorful sometimes blurry fantasy environments. His newer works mix some elements from his early style with more realist elements — including trees, forests, and buildings — along with abstract lines and star filled skies. His artistic style is evolving quickly and it’s hard to pin down or describe in words, so we’ll just let his paintings do the talking.
