Plumpynuts 2012 S/S Collection

The 2012 S/S edition of Japan Fashion Week (aka Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week) in Tokyo is under way! Several times each day, TokyoFashion.com’s contributors are reporting back from runway shows and events all over town. Be sure to check out all of our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo coverage.

On Saturday, October 22nd, Japanese label plumpynuts showcased their 2012 Spring/Summer collection on the runway at Plaza 1F Canopy Square as part of the Versus Tokyo event, curated by Yuichi Yoshii of The Contemporary Fix.

Plumpynuts is a Japanese womenswear brand created in 2009 by Miyuki Omichi and Ayumi Kita, the women behind the popular vintage-inspired label Foundation Addict.

The Plumpynuts 2012 S/S collection presented at Japan Fashion Week was titled simply enough “The Plumpynuts Show”. The collection was extra-feminine with a sexy edge. The brand – and indeed most of the items in this collection – fall into what the Japanese call “real clothes”, meaning things that young fashionable girls want to – and can afford to – wear on the street. This collection would have been right at home on the runway at the uber-hip Tokyo Girls Collection.
