Yukiko Hanai 2011 S/S Collection

The 11th Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo is happening! Several times each day, TokyoFashion.com’s contributors are reporting back from runway shows all over town.

On Thursday, October 21st, Japanese label Yukiko Hanai showcased their 2011 Spring/Summer collection on the runway at Tokyo Midtown.

Yukiko Hanai has seen the rise of the modern Japanese fashion scene from its domestic beginnings to its current international status. After graduating from Setsu Mode Seminar of Nagasawa Setsu, she created the Atelier Hanai in 1964. In 1968 she opened Madam Hanai, her first boutique, in Ginza. In 1984 her flagship Aoyama store was opened. Hanai is very knowledgeable about Japanese traditional culture, including Japanese tea ceremony. She is a member of “Touseikai”, a classical Japanese dance organization. but she enjoys aspects of Western culture as well, designing costumes for ballet performances and movies. She brings her knowledge of Japanese and Western culture, along with many years of design experience, to refine every collection. In addition to her clothing brands, there is also a beauty line with her name.

As long as he is behind his camera Will is a happy man. He has photographed everything from the slums of Bangkok to the catwalks of Tokyo. He is a contract photographer for Lonely Planet, his images and photo essays have appeared in Time Out, The Japan Times, Sportswear International and a variety of other newspapers, magazines and guidebooks around the world and his photo essays from Iraq for The Griffith Review even earned him a mention in the Australian book review of the year in 2006. In addition to his media related work, Will also shoots events, portraits, weddings and the occasional CD cover.
