Japan Lowrider Show 2009 Pictures + Video

Last weekend was the final 2009 edition of the Japan Lowrider Show in Tokyo. The one-day event took place at Makuhari Messe (technically outside of Tokyo, but events like Summer Sonic are held there and they always call it Tokyo, so we’ll play along). Japan Lowrider Show is a place for people into the Japanese lowrider scene to get together and show off their cars, check out other people’s cars, compete in various lowrider-related competitions, and just to chill out with friends and family.

When arriving at the Lowrider Show, we were a little shocked to find out it cost 4000 yen (that’s close to US$50) per person to get in. But, we were committed to checking out the show and bringing back photos, so we paid up and in we went!

By the time it was over, we’d met a lot of cool people, seen some amazing cars, watched more than a few hopping contests, and decided that it was definitely worth the trip – and the ticket cost. Besides having a good time, we brought back about a hundred pictures to share with you.

Check out these exclusive pictures of everything from the awesome cars, to the fun competitions, to the fashion of the very friendly Japanese lowrider girls and guys…

Click any of the pictures to enlarge them.

The images above are just a few of our exclusive pictures. Be sure to check out the rest of the photos at our Tokyo Lowrider Show Flickr photoset. There are 75+ more pictures in the Flickr set!

Also, check out these videos we took at the show. Both movies feature Japanese lowriders competing against each other in hopping contests.
