Minori’s Amazing Shiro-Nuri Makeup, Pink Hair & Kimono Coat in Harajuku

Here’s Minori, a super friendly Japanese artist/designer who attracts a lot of attention wherever shes goes. She stands out even in Harajuku! Minori is a well-known personality in Tokyo’s Shiro-Nuri (white painted skin) subculture. Minori has been featured in Japanese fashion magazines as well as appearing on numerous television programs.

Minori wears outfits – and makeup – which she designs and creates herself, often be “remaking” existing fashion. Her outfit here features a kimono coat (haori) top over a long polka dot skirt, lolita shoes, a parasol, hat, and various cute accessories.

If you’re interested in finding out more about Minori, check back soon. We’re currently finishing up a feature on her Shiro-Nuri makeup, fashion and art – along with lots of pictures and video. In the meantime, check out her official website or follow her on Twitter.

  1. that looks to be a michiyuki, haori are open in the front. I can’t see the collar so I can’t say what kind to be exact, but it’s probably not a haori.

  2. Looks like some kind of those mechanic dolls. Ok it is “street”art, performance, whatever you may call it, fascinating and beautiful (but not fashion). Visited her website. She displays some really nice costumes and wonderful pictures.

  3. I wonder if the kuro gyaru revival is a reaction to this? Usually when subcultures come and go it is in reaction to something else…maybe the kuro is a reaction to the shiro? I find it oddly coincidental that kuro gyaru are popping up at the same time as the Shiro nuri….I have seem photo’s of other girls doing this (shiro) as well, she isn’t the first.

  4. It’s different but it’s unique and works for her
