A Bathing Ape x Symbol Movie Goods

Next month, “Big Man Japan” director Hitoshi Matsumoto will release his second movie “Symbol” (しんぼる). The popular Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE) is marking this new film with a series of limited edition t-shirts and a cellphone charm.

The new movie features more of Matsumoto’s trademark dark, absurdist Osaka-ben-flavored humor. The story revolves around a man (played by Matsumoto) who wakes up in a bizarre windowless room.

The collaboration t-shirts feature BAPE’s Baby Milo character alongside a cartooned rendering of “Symbol’s” trapped man. As with most BAPE releases, the items will be limited edition, and will likely sell out. Some of the goods will only be available at the BAPE Aoyama or Osaka shops. If you want ’em, you better get ’em quick! Both the goods and the movie are set for release on Saturday, September 12, 2009.

The shirts are around US$75 each, and the phone charm is about US$30.
