Checkerboard Style from Kinji & Dare Devil

Aguko, a 16-year-old high school student with pink, green and black hair, is an example of the kind of creative and unique styling that you’ll find in Harajuku. She’s wearing a Kinji dress with a large checkerboard pattern over a checkerboard shirt. Pieces of a doll are fastened to her dress with safety pins.

The black and white theme continues with her two-tone stockings. Her black high-heeled oxfords are borrowed from her mother. Her eye-catching spiked purse is from Dare Devil.

Aguko’s favorite store is Panama Boy. You can visit Aguko’s blog here.

  1. Dig the stockings and shoes :) And I’m so jealous that she can get away with that hair in high school. When I was in high school I got in trouble for dying my hair *black* for crying out loud :P

  2. wow, what a unique style!
I gotta say I don’t like her hairstyle at all tho.

  3. Yeah, I wonder about her hair too. Many Japanese highschools are conservative about hair color, no less the extreme styling. At least that short of hair would make a wig easy to wear.

  4. Hair do like Yanomani from Amazon jungle …please…..
and rest…Comedia del Arte…not fresh at all
it all was …long time ago
now it is just- comes back! :)

  5. It’s a FANTASTIC look! The black & white and check gives it a Carnaby St in the 60’s look, while the doll head & parts is straight out of Dolly Kei – but punked up by the safety pins – LOVE IT!
