Harajuku Jesus Pendant Guy

A Tokyo street fashion photo of two guys on Meiji Dori between Harajuku and Shibuya.

These two Japanese guys were kind enough to pose for our photo, even though it was a rainy summer day in Tokyo. The guy on the left obviously stands out a bit. He’s decked out in bright colors and patterns from head to toe. His hat has a big illustration of a bird on the front and some other things going on on its side and back. His mask is also illustrated, though it was hard to figure out exactly what the illustrations on it were. His jacket, shirt, shorts, and sneakers were all colorful and he had a torn shirt (or something like that) hanging below his waist like a skirt. He was also wearing a backpack.

But, the thing that really set this guy apart was the huge Jesus face pendant he was wearing around his neck. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but Jesus’ sunglasses are mirrors, so you can see yourself in the reflection when walking by this guy on the street. That’s an exceptional accessory even in a place like Harajuku. Two thumbs up.

Update: The “Jesus Pendant” is actually the face of French musician Sebastien Tellier and it is created by the brand Yazbukey. Thanks to Mikki for setting us straight on that fact!

  1. Hello, very nice pic, I love the style of the guy on the left. I also wonder if you know where to buy such a mask? I’m living in Tokyo and I never found such a mask, I probably don’t go to the right place.
    Thanks

    Axel

  2. Ha- that “huge Jesus face pendant” is in fact from Yazbukey and represents Sebastien Tellier.
    Me likes his style!

    Very interesting style, he has.

Thank you, Mikki! It’s so obvious (and awesome) that it’s Sebastien Tellier now that you point it out. I will update the post with the Yazbukey info and give you credit! :-)

  4. The colorful guys shirt (with the oozing eyes) looks like it’s from Cassetteplaya by Carri Munden (English designer).
