Nincompoop x Kuro Benz Style in Harajuku

This 18-year-old Japanese guy told us that he is currently a student. Even though he was photographed on the street in Harajuku, most of his outfit came from shops in the Koenji area of Tokyo. His green floral-print jacket/top came from Kuro Benz (Koenji vintage/resale shop) and his pants from Nincompoop (Koenji fashion brand & select resale shop). His accessories include a furry hat, sunglasses, headphones, a large fur over his shoulder, a crucifix on a chain hanging from his pants, a studded bracelet, sparkling boots, and a canvas bag. He said that some of those accessories came from Kuro Benz in Koenji, which he also listed as his favorite shop.

  1. please tell me it’s faux fur, because he’s so cute.

  2. My favorite outfit so far. I just don’t like that furry thing he’s carrying!

  3. I am so sick of the obsession with fur in Japan. That would never fly here in the United States. It is not glamorous, it is a dead animal. It’s gross.

  4. tokyo

It seems like fur is having a mini-boom right now with some of the vintage-inspired street fashion kids. As far as it not being in in the US, I definitely agree at the street fashion level. But, did you see this recent article from WWD:
“Nevermind global warming: Fur is back in vogue…”

BTW, just about every time we post someone wearing fur, we get a few angry emails. I just wanted to point out again that our mission/goal is to report on and document things that are happening on the street in Tokyo. We don’t have to personally love/hate every trend that’s happening in Tokyo or in any other city, but our goal is to make people aware of what’s going on. It would be impossible for us to truly keep you informed if we just ignored everyone wearing fur or – if you’re vegan – everyone wearing leather boots or a motorcycle jacket. Thanks for understanding. :-)

  5. Wow. He looks amazing. I will check out the stores he has mentioned. ^^

  6. Without that fur he’d look fantastic. Not only is fur cruel and ridiculous, it looks gross. Would you carry around a dead human? A dead cat on your back? With it’s HEAD still intact, none the less! This includes rabbits feet. Weird. Not cool. DNW.

Fur when it is NECESSARY is fine. Back in the day when clothes weren’t readily available or fabric couldn’t be bought to make clothes, go right to fur. But now it’s ridiculous. Poor animals caged and tortured for their fur. You going to take your beloved house pet and cut it open to wear it? I don’t think so. Fur is murder.

  7. WHY is there a dead animal on his shoulder ?.. he is stunning and so cute desapointed..

  8. why are people on this site so against taxidermy, sure he could have chosen a fox that was shaped better to the outfit but it is a lovely color. if the body had been split in half and sew to the collar of the jacket it would have laid more nicely but other than that really nice and( the hat is fake fur)…really though i live in america and wear fur items i make all the time and the people i run into have no problem with it. fashion is fashion you don’t say your lipstick is cruel because its made out of fish scales, or that that down stuffed jacket is cruel… when yes those chickens and geese are dead… and everyone has worn leather or wool. a fox pelt is no different. in many cases the foxes are farmed not hunted just like in china the farm dogs for food thats what the animal is for and they live better than most would in the wild, where they would most likely get eaten as pups or left to starve by their parents.

  9. hmmmmmm i like the outfit but i dont neccessarily agree with the whole hypr about the fur. i mean ive seen all the comments about fur is murder! and things like that i think its kinda stupid. maybe it might be a vintage peice and whats wrong with that? honestly i think if the animal was tortured for its fur then that is morally wrong but if he got it from a relative or if its vintage then i dont think theres anything wrong with that. all in all i agree with putty. and besides animals kill other animals all the time and we (as an animal) are able to kill, but the only difference is that we are smart enough to use it as clothing.
even if it is for “fashion” if its not tortured and its not endagering the species then it’s all right :/
