Ne-net 2012 S/S Collection

The 2012 S/S edition of Japan Fashion Week (aka Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week) in Tokyo is under way! Several times each day, TokyoFashion.com’s contributors are reporting back from runway shows and events all over town. Be sure to check out all of our Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo coverage.

On Thursday, October 20th, Japanese label Ne-net showcased their 2012 Spring/Summer collection on the runway at EBIS303.

Ne-net founder Kazuaki Takashima graduated from Bunka Fashion College in 1994, joining Issey Miyake in 1996. In 2005, he started Ne-Net, debuting his 2006 S/S collection at Japan Fashion Week that same year.

Cute and quirky are two things that Ne-net does better than just about any other Japanese fashion brand (at least ones that are carried in major department stores), and both were in abundance during their 2012 S/S show at Japan Fashion Week. The womenswear in the collection had a youthful tomboy feel and the menswear had a schoolboy vibe. There were cute prints and graphics, patchwork pieces, school blazers, splashes of bright colors – and even the occasional full-sized plush animal joining the models on the runway.
