Tokyo Fashion Week 2012 S/S – Pictures & Reports

The 12th edition of Tokyo Fashion Week – officially called either “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo” or “Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo” (JFW) – has begun. The main events and runway shows of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo 2012 Spring/Summer edition run from October 16th through October 23, 2011.

This is the first time that Mercedes-Benz is the event’s title sponsor in Japan. However, the luxury car company is the main sponsor for other major fashion events around the world – including those in Berlin, Miami, and New York. Makeup company Maybelline is also sponsoring JFW this time around. With the support of large corporate sponsors, many people in the Japanese fashion industry are hoping that this this year’s Japan Fashion Week will be the first step towards wider international recognition for the event.

The official schedule for the 2012 S/S Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tokyo lists an impressive 50 runways shows. Besides the runway collections, Fashion Week also includes numerous exhibitions, parties, and other events around Tokyo (and the surrounding areas). In addition to all of the official events, there will be plenty of unofficial satellite shows, parties, and exhibitions as well.

We are pretty sure that we won’t be able to cover 100% of the goings on during Japan Fashion Week, but we promise to do our best!
