9mm Parabellum Bullet Singer Launches Fashion Label

A collaboration between well-known Japanese designer Oharu Ando (LessThan, etc.) and Takuro Sugawara (the singer and guitarist of the the popular Japanese rock band 9mm Parabellum Bullet) has given birth to a new fashion brand called “Eclodevice”. The brand name comes from combining the words “Eclosion” and “Device”. The first mini-collection from Eclodevice is composed of two shirts and a pair of sneakers.

Eclosion, which means “born out of an egg”, explains the dragonfly imprints on the shirts. The shirts reflect Sugawara’s taste in fashion, with wide collar openings and seams at the shoulders. Because of the close connection he feels between music and fashion, Sugawara chose to debut these first pieces at a recent 9mm Parabellum Bullet show at the Budokan in Tokyo.

Sugawara’s fascination with Jack Purcell’s designs for Converse inspired the design for the first Eclodevice sneaker. The front part of toes was enlarged and the word “Eclodevice” was added.

The limited pre-debut items were only sold at GSLP in two locations, namely Nagoya Matsuzakaya and Laforet Harajuku. Unfortunately, the shops were limited time events, and they have now ended. There appear to be some online stores carrying the items now, though, if you’re interested.
