Japanese Guy’s 1940s Street Style w/ Fedora, Belted Overcoat & Fur

Here’s a Bunka Fashion College student named Nagumo who we met in Shinjuku. Even though he’s only 19 years old, Nagumo’s style reminded us of a private eye from the 1940s when we first spotted him.

Nagumo told us that his entire outfit – featuring a belted overcoat, black slacks, loafers, a vintage leather briefcase, a fedora, sunglasses, and a fur – was created from used items that he found at flea markets and/or swap meets.

Besides being a fashion student, Nagumo is also a DJ. If you’d like to know more about his fashion or DJing, you can check him out on Twitter.

  1. Somehow the fur makes him look “cute” instead of “serious and cool” like private eyes are xD
Plus he sorta stands out. lolol~

Reaaaally cool though! Esp since he modified all of his clothes.

  2. I think the fur ties it all together, really makes the outfit “Japan” and it tones down the sleekness of the whole outfit, really makes it more earthy! :)

  3. it looks great,
    but
the dead animal ruins the outfit
    it’s disgusting, sorry :(

  4. Only sentimental gaijins think that fur is bad)
I like fox’s glass eyes))) And his outfit at all.

I am doing a school project on 1940s fashion in Japan. It requires a citiation and i need to know the author of this post. Thanks , Shayna :)

  6. I bet people would be horrified to know that you actually get paid to kill foxes in Australia. I don’t like the IDEA of fur…but I also don’t like the fox that killed all my chickens, so if anyone wants to make a scarf out of it, be my guest! LOL

I love this outfit though. He looks very classy.
