Hat Wearing Japanese Girl in Harajuku

Here is a very originally dressed Japanese girl on Cat Street in the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo.

Not sure what to say about this outfit. The two pointed hat has tassels and says the word “MATIES” on it. Her wide armed and intricately detailed over-shirt (looks a little like a poncho, but not quite) with a rope belt looks to be influenced by either vintage or traditional fashion from somewhere, but I’m not sure where. She’s wearing it over a long dress and sandals. She’s also got a vintage looking leather bag or purse covered in hair with a stuffed teddy bear and some multi-colored raw fabric attached to it. The entire outfit totally works, but I’m not sure where it’s coming from. If you have any idea on what the inspiration for this is, please post it in the comments.

  1. I love her shoes with leg warmers! – and is that a wig on her bag?!
