Sounds Good Shibuya Closes Down
Sad news from the heart of Shibuya. The Sounds Good by United Arrows super hip fashion select shop here closed down at the beginning of this month (April 2009). We first reported on this cool concept store when it opened, just over six months ago. We here are Tokyo Fashion are sad to see it close down so quickly.
As we’ve reported over the last few months, the bad economy is hitting the fashion industry pretty hard right now and we never did see to many people actually buying things inside of this shop. A lot of lookers, with the cool interior design and crazy decor, but that doesn’t pay the bills.
Here is a photo of the shop as it looks today. The neon lights are still on, but no one’s home:
The Sounds Good website says that the Harajuku shop, which has been around for longer than the Shibuya shop, has also closed. The Shinjuku shop in Lumine is still open. Both of the shops had sales on the clothing, sneakers, and accessories before closing.
Sounds Good Shibuya in better days:
There have been several cool fashion shops that have closed around Shibuya and Harajuku in the last few months and we are sad to see them go. But, they say the only thing that stays constant in Tokyo is change, so hopefully new projects and shops will be born from the ashes of these closings.
