The Virgin Mary Vintage Shop Girl Style in Harajuku

Meet Kyana! She’s a shop girl at the Shibuya vintage boutique The Virgin Mary. Like Grimoire, The Virgin Mary is extremely popular with Tokyo’s Dolly-kei style girls. Some elements of her look could definitely fall into the Dolly-kei realm, although it seems to have a more general Tokyo vintage mix & match look overall.

Kyana told us that her top is from the Japanese brand WAYRG, her footwear is Melissa x Vivienne Westwood Anglomania wing shoes, and much of the rest of her outfit – including her patchwork bag – is made up of vintage items. Her favorite shops include The Virgin Mary and Pet Paradise (as the name suggests, it’s a Tokyo pet store) and fashion brands she likes include Maice and Sowa.

Note: This update is from a series of street snaps that were taken in the summer for a print magazine. The magazine didn’t need all of the photos, so we are running the remaining snaps here on Tokyo Fashion. Some of the styles may be more Summer than Fall, but they have never been seen before and we didn’t want them to go unpublished.

  6. Maaaan. Why is it so hard to find stuff that cute here in America? Japanese girls are too cute~

  7. I like the outfit and the fact that one of her favorite places to shop is a pet store

  8. Listen here Doll face that outfit on your body is fabulous!
    Love it!

  9. I LOVE it! But actually, a lot of those items you can find in America at antique shops and stuff, even for pretty cheap. The Japanese vintage shop people usually just tend to think of better ways of wearing it and mixing it together. I think the problem is that American fashion is generally more “practical”, but the Japanese tend to take items we would never think of making into something wearable, and make it look awesome.
