Yasumasa “Yone” Yonehara’s 54th Birthday Party in Tokyo – Pictures
Yasumasa Yonehara, aka “Yone”, is one of the most influential and well-respected photographers in the modern Japanese street fashion scene. Yone has been a key player in so many of Japan’s major fashion booms – from the rise of the 1990s Shibuya gyaru to the early 2000s Urahara streetwear explosion to the current Kyary kawaii craze – that it’s no exaggeration to call him a “legend”. We were very happy to join legendary Yone at his 54th birthday in Tokyo recently!
In addition to all of his creative work as a photographer and editor, Yone is also a fun personality who we see around the streets of Harajuku practically every week. He might be influential and famous (over 1,000,000 fans on China’s Weibo social network!), but Yone still spends time walking around Harajuku to keep an eye on what’s going on and talk to the kids in the street fashion scene.
Yone is an asset to the Japanese fashion scene and a cool guy as well. We hope that you’ll all join us in wishing him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Enjoy our pictures from Yone’s party, and don’t forget to follow Yone on Twitter or Instagram if you’d like to see some of his work.
