Japanese Nokia Smart Phones Cancelled by DoCoMo

DoCoMo, Japan’s biggest mobile phone company, announced on Monday that they are canceling the launch of the Japanese Nokia smart phones that they had previously announced. The reason for the smart phone cancellation is because Nokia announced last week that they are pulling almost all of their business out of the Japanese mobile market to cut costs and focus on more profitable countries.

No Nokia For Japan

Although Nokia is pulling almost all of its phones from the Japanese market, they will continue to sell their super high end fashion phones, the luxury hand made Vertu phones. So, if you want a Nokia phone in Japan in the future, be prepared to pay US$5,000 – US$10,000 to get one.

The pullout is bad news for the employees of Nokia in Japan, but it should be good news for Apple, as the iPhone will have one less competitor.
