Spinns Harajuku Fashion Show Fall 2011 w/ Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, SuG, Ayumi Seto & more!

Spinns Harajuku is a shop we’ve been following since their grand opening last year. In the short time they’ve been around, the store and their related brands have become increasingly influential in the Harajuku fashion scene. From the models they work with (Kyary, Una, Seto, Tsubasa, etc.), to the musicians and designers who’ve collaborated with them, to the events and parties that they host, Spinns have become a major force in Harajuku street style. So, when Spinns Harajuku puts on a fashion show, it’s a big deal!

At the end of September, Spinns held their Autumn 2011 “Harajuku Collection” fashion show at Astro Hall (the same venue as their Spring fashion show). Spinns is known for making sure that most of their events are all-ages friendly, and this one was no exception. Their goal is to create a fun environment where everyone can enjoy the fashion and music. Like Tokyo Girls Collection, at a Spinns fashion show you are far more likely to run into one hundred groups of screaming Japanese high school girls than you are to run into one guy in a suit or one woman in a Dior dress. Fun is the goal – and plenty of fun was had by attendees of the Autumn 2011 Spinns Harajuku Collection show!

Milklim at Harajuku Collection

Spinns usually invite big-name musical guests to their fashion shows. This event featured Yasutaka Nakata (Kyary’s producer as well as one half of Capsule) on the turntables, a concert by the visual kei band SuG (they were the big draw of the night for some attendees), and a performance by J-Pop group Silent Siren (whose members also walked as models in several of the fashion shows).

The Spinns Harajuku Collection show included catwalk shows for several different brands/collections over the course of the eventing. We tried to get pictures of each for you, along with some video as well. The Spinns-related brands/collections represented included Milklim (very fairy kei friendly), Re+, Used Mix, TriColor, Apply, God Harajuku (a new brand in the Spinns lineup), and the Seto-hyped Namaiki. In addition to the shows, there was a fashion walk by the finalists in the Spinns “Spimo” modeling contest.

One of the final collections of the night was a special Spinns T-Shirt Collection. These tees were designed by some of the models, musicians, and artists that Spinns has been working with recently. The first eight designers to release their own t-shirts under this collection will be: 1. Nakata Yasutaka (capsule); 2. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu x Stereo-Tennis, 3. Takeru (SuG) x Mickey Mouse (sale of this shirt has been postponed temporarily, but the design was debuted at the show); 4. Kimura Yuu x MILKLIM; 5. Seto Ayumi x namaiki; 6. God Harajuku; 7. Tune Magazine; 8. FRUiTS Magazine.

Re Plus Fashion Show at Harajuku Collection

The list of models who walked in the Spinns Harajuku Collection shows was like a Who’s Who of hip Harajuku Girls – Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Ayumi Seto, Apochi, Una, Yuu Kimura, Mikki, Kumamiki, and more. The male runway models were impressive as well – including Yohji Kondo, Yuta Sakanichi, Kota Shimizu, Kinji (the designer of Omocha Party), several familiar faces from Spinns Harajuku, and even a special appearance by Takeru of SuG.

The other big highlight of the night was a concert by the popular Japanese visual kei band SuG. The crossover of SuG fans and Spinns Harajuku fans might not seem obvious at first, but it was a perfect match. The crowd erupted into excited screams as Takeru and the rest of the band launched into their set.

Rather than spend more time describing the evening, please scroll down to check out all of our exclusive pictures of the Spinns Harajuku Collection Autumn 2011 fashion show. You can click on any of the pictures to see them in glorious high resolution. We were hanging out with the excited crowd on the floor for the entire night, so apologies if some of the pictures look a little less-than-perfect! There are also video clips of some of the runway shows, so check the video out if the pics aren’t enough!
