Design Festa Pictures #32

Posted on 28 Nov. 2010

This month, the 32nd edition of Design Festa was held at Tokyo Big Sight. Design Festa is billed as the largest art event in Asia, with over 7,000 artists from all over the world attending. The 2,500+ booths on display at Design Festa #32 covered every imaginable type of art and design, from independent fashion designers to fine artists to toy and craft creators to dancers to bands to people in costume doing random things that you can’t exactly describe. The bottom line is that it may officially be an art event, but Design Festa is also a huge two-day party where just about anything (legal) goes.

As we’ve done for several years, we headed out to both days of Design Festa to enjoy the creative atmosphere, and to try to bring you back a sampling of the fashion and art on display. Most of the fashion designers at this event are on the very young/indie level, but this time we were pleasantly surprised to find that the Grimoire Shibuya crew had a booth. There were a number of amazingly cute Dolly Kei girls wandering around Design Festa because of Grimoire’s presence.

In addition to the Dolly Girls, there was all kinds of other fashion, art, and mayhem on display. Rather than try to explain too much, just check out the pictures (both here and on Flickr) and see for yourself. We’ll repeat what we always say about Design Festa – please please please try to make it out to one of their events yourself. If you’re an artist, it’s an amazing place to display your work and get it seen by people from all over the world. If you just enjoy art or like having fun, you must go as well. Don’t miss out!

As usual, you can click on any of the pictures to see high resolution versions.
